The MD/CEO of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) and Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation, Engr. Peter Ewesor has reiterated the Agency’s commitment to achieve its mandate of ensuring safety of the use of electrical materials, lives and property in the power industry.
He made this known while playing host to the monthly Power Sector Communication Team’s meeting, Wednesday, in his Office.
According to him, the Agency is keenly interested in the of enforcement of technical standards and regulations, technical inspection, testing and certification of all categories of electrical installations, electricity meters and instruments to ensure the efficient production and delivery of safe, reliable and sustainable power supply and guarantee safety of lives and property in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
The Managing Director who was represented by the General Manager Public Affairs, Uche Aneke said NEMSA embarks on nationwide monitoring of equipment to ensure the right use of electrical equipment like the one it has just commenced, which took the MD out of the office as at the time of the meeting.
On his part, the Assistant General Manager, Technical Standards and Inspectorate Services, Usman Momoh, who was also at the meeting, said NEMSA issues out seals of authority to certified electrical contractors from the Licensed Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN).
Momoh added that as the technical regulator of the industry, the Agency certifies electrical engineers, work against sub- standard use of materials and poor electricity supply.
