Nation Newspaper page 5and Vanguard page 11 all reported that, the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), has rejected the plan to privatize the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), The Union said the move would be in favour of the FG and to the detriment of the Nigerian masses.

The Western Zone’s Assistant General Secretary, Modupeoluwa Akinola made this known at a media briefing facilitated by the Union’s Western Zone yesterday in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.

Nation Newspaper page 27reports that, the Members of Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8) Countries have indicated their readiness to support Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan.  The paper stated that the Federal Government delegation was led by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Power, Mr. Nebeolisa Anako, to the D-8 Secretariat in Istanbul.  According to the Secretary General of D-8 Ambassador Isiaka Imam, made this known when he received some Directors of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) Plc., who visited Republic of Turkey recently to sign a partnership deal with Energy Exchange Istanbul (EXIST).

Daily Trust Newspaper page 20 reports that, the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), said more manpower is needed to boast the technical standards in the power sector.

The Managing Director of NEMSA and Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation, Engr. Aliyu Tukur Tahir, made this known yesterday in Abuja,  during the presentation of a report on the deployment of self-Assess Tool (SAT), in NEMSA by the Bureau for Public Service Reforms (BPSR),

Daily Trust Newspaper page 26 reports that, Dr. Ferdinand Giadom, who is the project coordinator of the Hydrocarbon pollution Remediation (HYPREP), said President Muhammadu Buhari, had approved the connection of the entire Ogoni Communities to the National grid through the Ogoni integrated power project.

Giadom, stated this on Monday at the Ogoni power project stakeholder’s sensitization and engagement forum at Kpor, headquarters of Gokana LGA of Rivers State.  He, further stated that, a specialist hospital has been established, for the people of Ogoni.

Punch Newspaper page 25 reports that, the Chairman of NERC, Mr. Sanusi Garba, disclosed at a hearing on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework in Abuja on Monday 5th September, 2022, that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission will spend N5bn on technology investments between now and 2025.  The paper further stated that investing in technology will provide credible information for quality service.

Punch Newspaper page 25 reports that, the National Union of Electricity Employees have  vow to free the country from the hands of irresponsible hustlers in the power sector.  According to the Assistant General Secretary of the Association, Mr. Temple Iworima, on Monday 5th September, 2022, said they will no longer allow electricity distribution companies and generating companies to take advantage of Nigerians.
