Punch Newspaper page 19, Daily Sun page 25, Leadership page 26, Daily Trust page 24 all reported that, Federal Government and the French Development Agency, yesterday, signed grant agreement of €25m for the Northern Corridor Project, an electricity scheme jointly funded by the European Union, AFD and the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, Mr. Sule Abdulaziz, stated that the project was not just critical to the Northern corridor but would also improve the country’s power transmission line in general.

Punch Newspaper page 9 reports that, the 11 electricity distribution companies are yet to meter over five million customers registered under their networks.
The Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, Mr.Sanusi Garba, said that only 611,231 meters were deployed under the MAP scheme as of 31stJanuary, 2022, noting that more than half of registered electricity customers in the country remained unmetered.

Leadership Newspaper page 25 reports that, D-8 Countries Organization for Economic Cooperation, has reiterated its earlier promise to support Nigeria’s power sector reforms.
Secretary General of the D-8 Ambassador Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam has said this during his visit to the Management and Staff of Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc., (NBET), in Abuja.

Daily Trust Newspaper page 25 reports that, Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has collaborated with Green Village Electricity (GVE)and Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) with Wuse Market Traders Association, to acquire 1,000 Megawatt of solar power for Wuse market, speaking further, the CEO of GVE solar energy company, Mr. Ifeanyi Orajaka, said the project is targeted to be completed by the end of the year, he disclosed that over 2000 shop owners in Wuse Market that currently depend on Six hours supply of electricity from the (AEDC), would have uninterrupted power supply once completed.

Punch Newspaper page 26 reports that, the Eko Electricity Distribution Company, held a town hall meeting in Lagos Island District last week. The town hall meeting is to strengthen its strategic engagement with customers under its franchise network.
The General Manager, Corporate Communication, Godwin Idemudia, stated that the Island District was strategic to the company’s business, “hence the importance of the engagement forum is to help the management to identify areas of improving power supply to the customers.”

Punch Newspaper page 26 reports that, PPC Limited, stated that they are supporting the local production of Smart Meters through the supply of accessories in the drive to ensure widespread access to electricity in Nigeria.PPC Limited, also reiterated that through its partnership with prepaid meter producers, in Nigeria, about 3000 smart meters has be installed to households and electricity consumers.

Daily Trust Newspaper page 24 reports that, the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), has expressed their concern over the decay in the power sector following the harsh economic situation in the country. Engr. A. S Kolawale, the Zonal Organising Secretary of NUEE said the privatization of Power Sector has not added any value to the lives of ordinary Nigeria’s, he further stated that Nigerians were deceived into believing that investors had the financial and technical power generation and distribution.
