DIRECTOR (ENERGY RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT)
(i) Responsible to the Permanent Secretary and serve as the administrative Head of the Energy Resource Department;
(ii) Provide leadership of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to develop policies, programs and projects for the development of appropriate energy resources for electricity generation with particular emphasis on hydropower, coal and gas;
(iii) Supervision and/or oversight on the execution of generation projects benefitting from funding from the treasury and public sector loans;
(iv) Provide a periodic update of the nation’s Least Cost Generation Expansion Master Plan;
(v) Provide technical guidance and advice to the Permanent Secretary on issues relating to the development of energy resources for the generation of electricity
(vi) Develop policies and initiatives for enhancing security of supply and the diversification of the nation’s generation mix;
(vii) Develop bankable Project Documents for medium/large scale power plants with a view to development under Public Private Partnership and/or Public Funding
(viii) Monitor the performance of generation companies and advise on governmental intervention where appropriate
(ix) Liaise with Development Finance Institutions for areas of possible collaboration
(x) Any other assignment that may be decided by the Permanent Secretary
